When to use this checklist

This checklist is for industrial buyers, safety managers, and contractors who need to order PPE fast: hearing protection, head protection, welding helmets, and safety shoes. OSHA 1910.133 covers eye and face protection and includes minimum protective shade guidance. Also check replacement lens availability and battery type. If you can't find the spec sheet, that's a red flag. I've seen rush orders arrive with a great-looking helmet and no clear lens rating. That's not a risk I'd take on a shutdown.

Auto-darkening helmets need to switch fast enough for the process. If the lens is too slow, the welder gets flashed. If the shade is wrong, the eyes are exposed. Don't let a graphic or a low price decide the order. Check the lens, the headgear, and the warranty.

Step 5: Verify safety shoes before buying from Zappos or Amazon

Check the toe cap rating, electrical hazard (EH) rating if needed, and slip resistance. Check whether the seller is authorized and what the return policy is. Step 6: Confirm compatibility across all PPE
